In focus: August 2011

In August our regular tips saw 32 points staked and 33.61 returned. Profit = 1.61pts, yield = 5%, and the full record is below.

Our premium tips meanwhile recorded a profit of 3.25 points from 8 points staked for a yield of 41%. Contact us for further details.

Welcome to the first of this season’s monthly reviews in which we’ll assess our tips performance and comment on the state of play of our season-long ante-post tips.

In total we staked 32 points in August and returned 33.61 for a profit of just over 5% - positive if unspectacular.

Our Members' Zone tips also saw a profit as we tipped England to take the 4th test against India. For access to the Members' Zone sign up via Paypal to see our tips on the US Open and Rugby World Cup, exclusively at footybettingtips.com. You can find more details on the 'What we do' page.

As for our season-long tips, it’s early days but here is a summary of the current state of play:

4pts on Man Utd to win the Premier league at 7/4 (Bet365): Top with three wins from three but with neighbours City hanging on to their coat tails.

3pts on Fulham to finish in the top 10 at 6/4 (Coral): Poor start from Martin Jol’s side with just one point from three games. Top half could prove a challenge.

3pts on Swansea to get relegated at 4/6 (Sky Bet): 15th place with two points from three games. Little to suggest they’ll avoid a long hard battle against the drop.

2pts on Norwich to be top promoted team at 11/4 (Stan James): despite QPR’s thumping defeat against Bolton and failure to claim any points at Wigan, their win over everton is enough to leave them as the top promoted side as August ends. Norwich picked up a point at Wigan, led Stoke until the 94th minute and lost narrowly at Chelsea - likely to struggle but some promising signs.

2pts on Blackburn to get relegated at 3/1 (Victor Chandler): Three played, three lost. 3/1 looking good value for a side that appear to be struggling as much as expected.

2pts on Wigan to get relegated at 2/1 (Blue Square): Solid start, albeit against the three promoted sides. Tougher tests to follow.

1pts on Newcastle to get relegated at 6/1 (Blue Square): Always an outside bet, Newcastle’s start has nonetheless surpassed our expectations. Could struggle more now Barton has followed Nolan out though.

2pts on West Ham to win promotion at 6/4 (Bet365): 5th place despite the absence of a home win. Continue to look strong contenders for promotion.

6pts on Blackpool to finish in the top 12 at 17/20 (Betfair): Currently in 8th place after a reasonable start.

If the season ended on August 31st our ante-post tips would return 30.1 points from 25 points staked - a return of just over 20%.
